SAN DIEGO -- Arizonas Brandon McCarthy went seven innings and won for just the second time this season, pitching the Diamondbacks past the Padres 2-1 on Friday night. McCarthy (2-10) limited San Diego to one run and six hits. He struck out seven with no walks as he beat the Padres for the second time this season and fourth in five career decisions. Addison Reed pitched the ninth inning for his 18th save in 21 chances. The Padres, who were no-hit by the Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants in their last game, were again challenged offensively. Tyson Ross (6-8) took the loss as the Padres continued a disturbing trend. In Ross last five starts the Padres have scored one run. The Padres cut Arizonas lead in half in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Ross. He drove in Cameron Maybin who reached on a single and took third on a single by Alexi Amarista. San Diego squandered a chance to tie the game in the sixth when Chase Headley reached third with one out. But with the infield in, Will Venable grounded to Aaron Hill at second base and he erased Headley trying to score. Venable was retired when he broke for second base while Headley was in a rundown. The Diamondbacks broke the scoreless tie in the fourth when Paul Goldschmidt walked to open the inning, which preceded a single by Miguel Montero. They advanced to second and third on a wild pitch by Ross. David Peralta drove them both in with a sharp one-out single up the middle. Martin Prado smacked a similar ball toward centre, but with Amarista covering second on a steal attempt by Peralta, he was in position to turn an inning-ending double play. Down 2-0, the Padres had an opportunity to cut into their deficit when Headley and Yasmani Grandal had consecutive one-out singles in the fourth inning. But Venable and Jake Goebbert struck out looking to squash the rally. The Padres got their first hit in 11 innings in the third when Ross bunted for a two-out single. Ross effort down the first base line was fielded by McCarthy but his throw was late and offline. Ross, the Padres second base runner over that 11-inning span, didnt go far. Everth Cabrera followed with a ground ball to shortstop to end the inning. NOTES: Diamondbacks SS Chris Owings was scratched from the lineup with a sore left shoulder. . Cheap Jerseys Online . -- The way Ted Ligety carved into turns looked so easy.MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Sun Life Stadium is currently a mess, and the Miami Dolphins couldnt be happier.Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, along with team and political officials led a tour of the stadium in its latest remodeling phase on Friday, standing in one of the end zones as workers in the stands continued the process of ripping out every existing seat and making way for new ones.Dirt covers much of the field, debris piles are scattered about and the din of construction equipment is constant. When the work is done in 2016, a canopy roof will provide shade, the stadiums capacity will be lessened, the first row of seats will be closer to the sidelines and new video boards will hang — a modernization done in hope of luring Super Bowls back to the area. The NFL, lets face it, they want to come to Miami, Ross said. They recognize its a great place to have a Super Bowl. Were talking things out and hopefully trying to get it on a regular basis. My goal would be to have at least three to five in the next 20 years. The Dolphins are hoping to host a Super Bowl again in 2019 or 2020. The Miami area has played host to the Super Bowl 10 times, the last five of those in the Dolphins current home — but none since 2010, as owners have chosen to award the game to either newer or more amenity-friendly facilities. The Dolphins hope that wont be an issue going forward. This $350 million project will lower the capacity from about 75,000 to roughly 65,000, provide shade over 92 per cent of the seats at kickoff — compared to about 17 per cent for some games there now — and give the 28-year-old facility all the bells and whistlees it figures to need to measure up to other stadiums.ddddddddddddThe canopy roof has been considered a key part of the deal. Fans have long said that even on fall days, the steamy heat and humidity in South Florida can be a drawback from attending either Dolphins or Miami Hurricanes games at Sun Life. The canopy was considered a solution, plus allows the stadium to keep its grass field. What better place? This is the best weather in the United States at Super Bowl time, Ross said. For now, the stadium will retain the Sun Life name, but the team is looking for a new partner for naming rights once the renovations are completed.Ross, speaking afterward on Dolphins-related matters, said:— Related to the hiring of former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum as the Dolphins executive vice-president of football operations earlier this month, Ross said we have an organization and a structure thats going to work. ... Footballs a lot more complex game than it used to be. Tannenbaum was at the event Friday, as was general manager Dennis Hickey.— Ross reiterated that Hickey still has total control of the draft and the 53-man roster.— Ross said he doesnt know if wide receiver Mike Wallace, who didnt play in the second half of the Dolphins season finale and whose future has been the subject of much speculation since, will be back in 2015. Next year we need to win, Ross said.— Ross said the Miami Hurricanes are liking what theyve seen from the renovation plan, and that the team will benefit. The Hurricanes did not factor into the decision-making when the renovation plan was being formulated. ' ' '
